About The Nest
Swans Nest Yoga was founded on the belief that life is a journey towards the Soul. It can be easy to lose our way in our hyper-connected modern society where the challenges and demands of the world often seem overwhelming. The practice of yoga reminds us that the seed of creation lives within each of us, and like all living things, that seed yearns to grow into its fullest potential. Through physical practice, self-inquiry, and an open-mind - and by combining eternal wisdom from the ancient practice of yoga with our modern day understanding of the world - we find that a committed yoga practice amplifies our inner voice while quieting our fears, helping us pursue the lives we were built to live with increased joy, love and fulfillment. Come practice at The Nest, let's journey together.
A Shala in the traditional sense of the word - a gathering place for students of yoga to practice, share, experience and grow. Tucked away in the back of a quiet building in Bushwick, the Nest provides soul-seekers a place of refuge removed from the demands and influences of the external world.
For thousands of years, across multiple cultures, swans have been symbols of love, wisdom, creative expression, self-transformation, and self-actualization. Ultimately the goal of yoga is Self-Knowledge, or union of mind and body with the divine spirit within each of us. It is through this journey of self-inquiry and self-actualization that we remove our fears and doubts and continually grow towards our fullest potential.
Goddess Saraswati is the Hindu goddess of wisdom, knowledge, music, and creative expression. Saraswati means "essence of one self" and also "the one who flows." She is often depicted with a swan as her vehicle, representing discernment in separating Truth from illusion. As part of Bhakti, or devotion in our yoga practice, we pay homage to Saraswati through mantra chanting and ceremonial offerings.

Location & Arrival
137 Montrose Avenue in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Thanks to the original Bushwick peops for letting me know that East Williamsburg IS NOT A REAL THING! Please ring the doorbell and somebody will come open the door. Try to arrive at least 5 minutes before class so we can keep our ducks, er, swans in a row.
Online Class Schedule
If a class on the schedule is “grayed-out” it means that it’s cancelled and there is no class at that time.
Are mats, blocks, and blankets provided?
Yep, and they’re included for Free-Ninety Free.
Is there a shower to cleanse my feathers?
Yep, and it’s got a shower curtain with swans sitting on lotus flowers. (Well, the original one did. I recently replaced it because it was dirty and I’m civilized.)
